Lights. Camera. Action! Every participant in the Talent Show went on stage on the Friday night of Spring Break preforming their act in front of their closest friends and family.
From singers to dancers to guitarists to comedians, the talent show hosted a large variety of acts.
Freshman twin sisters Jordan and Sydney Jeffery performed the only dancing act in the show.
“We are going to dance to the Brittany Spears song ‘Circus’,” Jordan said before the show. “ We choreographed it ourselves and practiced it for three weeks.”
One of the two pianists of the night was Jacob Ochoa. His act was improvised.
“I have been playing piano since I was ten years old,” Jacob said. “but I am just going to wing this.”
The other pianist was freshman Tori Shrull. She played “Gypsy Camp” by John Thompson.
“I have been playing the piano since I was seven years old,” She said. “I just have a love for playing and playing for people.”
A new outfit and a high-pitched song is what you heard when freshman Taylor Yates was on stage singing “Titanium” by David Guetta.
“I have this major fear of singing in front of people but I have a really good voice so I thought ‘why not get over it?’,” Taylor said.
Drumming her hands onto a stool to make a slow-paced beat, freshman Lexi Nivens sang “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors.
“I picked to sing because it’s what I like to do and this is the only time I can,” Lexi said. “I have been practicing every day after school for the past two weeks for about an hour every day.”
Freshman Lesly Morales sang “Who Says” by Selena Gomez
“I really like to sing a lot,” Lesly said. “I have been singing since I was seven years old.”
Sophomores Jacey Harris and Autumn Fuller sang a duet. It was meant to be a trio, but their third singer couldn’t make it due to a track meet. They performed “Home” by Phillip Phillips.
“We love music and we love to sing together,” Autumn said. “I was really nervous because Charlie was supposed to play guitar but he couldn’t make it. I had to play by myself.”
Another duet was sung by co-host, Angela Ferris and Cayden Candioto.
“I am hosting and singing a duet (Radioactive) with Cayden,” Angela said. “ I am really dedicated to the theatre department, I co-hosted last year. I usually just go with my instinct on stage as far as hosting goes.”
Her partner, freshman Cayden Candioto, wasn’t nervous at all.
“We kinda just threw something together about 30 minutes before tryouts,” Cayden said. “I’m not nervous because I was born to be on stage. I don’t really consider myself to be a singer, but I have been playing the guitar for two years.”
Another acoustic guitarist named Damon Lewis sang “What About Now” by Chris Daughtry.
“I love music,” Damon said. “I have been practicing this whole week to prepare.”
The talent show raised money for the fine arts department. The money goes towards class supplies and materials.
