A new lunch detention program begins Monday, Dec 3. Unlike last year’s working lunch, students are put in lunch d-hall only if they are failing a class. Missing assignments do not count. It takes place in the library and students are escorted by their fifth period teacher.
Every Monday, a progress report is sent out to teachers. This is an opportunity for teachers to correct any errors in the grade book. Then, if a student is on the list, he will stay in lunch d-hall from Tuesday through Friday. No exceptions.
Next Monday, Dec. 3, the first progress report goes out for lunch d-hall, which begins on Wednesday. After next week, Nov. 28-30, lunch d-hall starts every Tuesday. Parents were mailed letters today Nov. 30 explaining the process.
Teachers with failing students think this can help them to pay more attention to their grades.
“We have a bunch of students who are very, very smart, but their grades don’t reflect that. We want them to show their full potential,” Principal Jason Cochran said.
