Streaming Supports Entertainment Need
Consumers subscribe to various online services to stay busy during shutdowns

With the threat of spreading Covid-19, the local government, and later the U.S. Government, enforced citizens to stay home, essentially creating a lockdown, and encouraging the avoidance of social outings of any kind whenever possible. Due to these circumstances several students resorted to using streaming platforms, mostly Netflix, to stay entertained during the lockdown.
Citizens need to use a small selection of streaming services, perhaps Netflix, Hulu and Disney+, by subscribing to a few at once. Also including occasional cable entertainment like DirectTV or Spectrum, if owned or used.
By using multiple streaming platforms, consumers possess access to more content from different brands and companies than ever before. Only using one service limits viewers to the content of one service which at times turns boring, especially when a person has binged all that the service offers at that point in time. If they only utilize one service they eventually run out of content that appeals to them. Also considering that during the quarantine most citizens stayed home, the importance of finding a suitable platform proved to be critical.
The argument that the services end up costing a lot of money stands true; However, any service provides the option to cancel the contract at any time. If the customer cancels before the billing period ends the customer still possesses access to streaming through the end of the period. So if the customer starts to use the service less due to work starting back up in the U.S., the process to cancel remains simple.
Limiting to using only one service excludes customers from exclusive content on other platforms. If a teen wants to watch something releasing only on a certain platform, said teen then needs to convince his/her guardian to subscribe to the service. By already owning a subscription the hassle to convince the guardians becomes unnecessary. The exclusive content on specific platforms becomes accessible by watching it with a friend that already pays for the subscription.
Only using one streaming platform becomes boring, after all the content that appeals to a person changes with time. By subscribing to multiple services the content available to the viewer suffices, the needs of said viewer. Owning multiple subscriptions entitles customers to more content, ranging from different companies and genres for all types of ages.
By subscribing to multiple streaming platforms, a consumer gains a lower risk of indulging in boredom from content variety creeping in, thereby leading to more customer satisfaction with the streaming entertainment industry as a whole.
Streaming platforms need to collaborate more often, like Disney+ and Hulu, to provide more content for customers and essentially create more profit for the companies.
